Hello from HanselHansel is a not-for-profit cooperative of writers and artists which promotes literary and artistic works relating to Orkney and Shetland. We are as yet fairly new and small. Our projects are aimed at all age groups. NewsHansel's latest publication, Arc o Möns, has received praise from Anna Crowe, Lyn Moir and Helena Nelson in the latest issue of Sphinx as well as a full write-up from Jim Mainland in The New Shetlander. Art-Poetry project Mailboats is a collaboration between eight artists and eight poets from Orkney and Shetland. The mailboats were launched from Skerries, Shetland in August 2008 - Track the sightings! A catalogue, including the poems is currently on sale. For ChildrenHansel toured Shetland's Primary Schools in 2008. Check out the tour's photo diary. Inta Shetland works in association with Hansel Cooperative Press to translate classic literature into Shetland dialect and, where possible, to offer dialect resources and support to local schools free of charge. Current work is undertaken by Christine De Luca. The first storybook to be translated is George's Marvellous Medicine (Dodie's Phenomenal Pheesic) by Roald Dahl. Don't tell your granny - she may be shocked! |
